Potatoe Pie

I thought this book was very interesting and well written. I did not like the format though. I get bored with the letter format. I feel (not just with this book) that the letters leave too much out. I want dialogue and action. This author did do a great job in describing the characters personalities though. Quite an odd assortment. I enjoyed the little bit of information that was given about the Guersney Island.
I thought that Juliet was a little uppity about some things and wondered how she captured the hearts of the book club so quickly.

4 points

Hi all, I read this book earlier in the summer and loved it. I learn things about the war that I didn't know, and I love to learn new things. While the book had a lot of sadness, the kindness of the people of Guernsey gave the story a sense of hope. I didn't like the girl who went down to write the story, at first, but got to like her better as the book progressed.

Well, I finally finished Peace Like a River. I can't say I am huge fan of the book, but it was an interesting bedtime read. I am not too critical of books, but this one took me awhile to get into and a long time to finish. It didn't capture my attention enough to want to keep reading to see what happened next. The characters, however, were well developed and I agree that Swede did make the book more enjoyable.

4 of 5 stars

I liked Peace Like A River. It was very entertaining, and thought provoking. I loved Swede. She made the book so much better! Especially her poems about Sunny Sundown. Very good book!

Procrastinator

Hey everyone! I just barely purchased the book a couple of days ago. I promise I will have it read soon! I will spend every free moment to finish it! Don't give up on me yet. Hope everyone is doing well.

Lachlans Choice

Hop On Pop

Lachlan carries the book around saying "pop" and wants you to read it if he sees you. I can't tell you how many times a day I read it, not to mention every time Karson has to read it as well!
